XPN, 88.5FM Philadelphia, will present a Music Film Festival this weekend April 26th - 29th. It's a festival dedicated to movies about music. It's not on their website, but on the station today, they have been calling this the "1st annual" festival. It would be great if this is presented every year.
A new monthly gallery walk kicked off Sunday, April 15th, 2012. There were 7 galleries and 3 framing stores which participated. There is a guided tour which splits up the spaces to cover half of the galleries in April and half in May.
I am hoping to get to most galleries and chronicle my experiences here.
For more information regarding the gallery walk go to:
hob'art co-operative gallery 720 Monroe Street E 208
In April, I made it over to hob'art. At the studio was about 18 pieces of art by 3 different artists. One of the artists was present and was very happy to talk about her work.
Their website is below and the gallery seems to have a lot of interesting openings and events going on. I will try to find out more regarding the gallery's events and will post it when the information is available.
May 12, 2012 is Local Music Day in Philadelphia. What is that? Local busineses in Philadelphia will play music by only featured Philadelphia bands for an entire day. More information at: Love Local Music.
Videos and music from 4 of the 5 featured bands are below. If you have 45 minutes, I recommend the first video by Buried Beds.
