The top 90.3 albums of 2011 countdown aired on KEXP yesterday, Dec 30th. KEXP, 90.3FM, is a public radio station based in Seattle. They usually fall under the vague moniker "eclectic" but their programming differs from show to show and DJ to DJ. My favorites are John in the Morning and Cheryl Waters who are on weekdays from 9am to 5pm EST. They also have other specialty programming weeknights and weekends which include Classic Metal, Old School Country, Reggae, and other genres.
The coolest thing about KEXP, besides their live streaming which is always available, is their real time playlist and their audio archives. As you're listening you always know who's playing by having the playlist window open, which is good when hearing music not heard anywhere else. Also, everything they play stays on their listening archive for 2 weeks. The playlists are available even longer.
So, if one wanted to see or hear the top 90.3 (aka 91) albums of 2011, go to the December 30, 2011 playlist pages. From there, based on the times of songs, you can go to the streaming archive, enter date and time(to the minute) to hear specific songs or, as I am doing right now, enter 10am Dec 30th and listen to the entire countdown.
